First, Gecco is a Social and Solidarity Economy (SAS) created in 2007, specializing in the recovery of food waste. In short, Gecco provides answers to accompany the energy transition. Most important for us; is the ecological and solidarity transition. For that, we bring our stone to the building in the energy transition. Essentially with catering waste, we rely on innovative approaches.

Through its activities, Gecco is committed to Green Growth by helping to reduce the volume of waste. In addition, we are producing renewable energy and favoring the creation of local jobs.Or, originally focused on collection, the activity has gradually spread to the search for solutions that are beneficial for the environment and the territories. . In addition, a genuine local sector for the recovery of all catering waste has emerged.

That’s why we have developed a local value chain   Used cooking oils, and develop solutions from the leftover plate (fermentable) and coffee grounds.

  • In the first place, the  local collection   waste from producers (restaurateurs, collective kitchens, agro-food industries and households produce used frying oils, fermentables and coffee grounds),
  • After the  local valorization waste, we transform frying oils into biodiesel,
  • And, for the  local consumption   the end product (including the use of biodiesel in captive communities fleets)

Since mid-2016, Gecco has expanded its business by using all catering waste (coffee grounds and fermentables).

First, to differentiate ourselves, we work with small local producers. Actually we offer them the following services:

  • A collection of free food oils and fats,
  • And a collection of plate remains (fermentable),

Secondly with this we do the following things:

  • For edible oils and fats, we negotiate them for valorization of biofuel channels,
  • We value the edible oils, to use it by our own team
  • For the remains of plates (fermentable), we negotiate them to recovery industry,

In addition, we offer training services, and we support the topics related to the waste collection business (Regulation, ISCC certification, the collector’s job, etc.).

Gecco thinks its activity around an economy at the service of man and his environment.

Our co-founders

To begin, Michel Millares and Julien Pilette were involved in the local community networks of Nord-Pas de Calais.

Then, they quickly had the desire to create a company at the service of the Man and the environment. Indeed, they are then convinced of the interest of industrial ecology. Considered as a great challenge, Gecco was born to put the tools of the company at the service of a project: viable, virtuous and creator of wealth.

Subsequently, Michel and Julien complement each other daily & nbsp; for the advancement of the company. Indeed, this company that celebrated its 10th anniversary in March 2017!
